Our Programmes
“The Oolu Foundation develops programmes that support students to make informed decisions as they transition from secondary education into local or international higher education or skills training opportunities.
By integrating personalised guidance with academic and career preparation, these programmes establish structured pathways that enable students to navigate critical transition points and achieve sustainable outcomes.”
A structured pathway
Oolu offers two interconnected programmes:
- OICLP – Oolu International Career Launch Pad
- OIAP – Oolu International Academic Pathway
The programmes are designed to complement each other. OICLP focuses on orientation and decision-making, while OIAP focuses on academic preparation and progression.
Students may participate in one or both programmes, depending on their needs and ambitions.
OICLP – Oolu International Career Launch Pad
OICLP is a career guidance and university orientation programme for secondary school students.
The programme supports students in understanding their academic interests, strengths, and future options. This is particularly relevant in contexts where structured career guidance is limited.
What the programme offers
- Psychometric assessment
- Individual counselling sessions
- Guidance on academic and career pathways
- Introduction to international higher education options
Students are supported in making informed decisions about their next steps, whether this involves further local study or preparation for international opportunities.
Role within the pathway
OICLP serves as an entry point. It helps students build clarity and direction before making decisions about further study or skill training
OIAP – Oolu International Academic Pathway
OIAP is a full-time preparatory programme for students who have completed WASSCE and intend to pursue international higher education.
The programme is designed to address the gap between local secondary education and international university entry requirements.
What the programme offers
- Academic preparation aligned with international standards
- Development of study skills and critical thinking
- Structured learning in a cohort-based environment
- Guidance in preparing for university applications
Programme structure
- Duration: 9 to 12 months
- Location: The Gambia
- Small, selective cohorts
Outcome
Students who successfully complete the programme are prepared to apply to international universities and meet admission requirements that may otherwise be out of reach.
From orientation to progression
OICLP and OIAP are designed as part of a broader system.
OICLP supports students in exploring their options and making informed decisions.
OIAP supports students who choose to pursue international higher education by providing the necessary academic preparation.
Not all students who participate in OICLP will move into OIAP. The programmes are intended to support different pathways, depending on individual goals.
Together, they provide both direction and preparation.
Who the programmes are for
OICLP programmes are designed for students in West Africa who:
- Have completed, or are completing, secondary education
- Are considering further study, locally or internationally
- Would benefit from structured guidance or academic preparation
OIAP is specifically intended for students who meet the academic requirements and are motivated to pursue higher education abroad.
